Moving to Prague? Great City! Great Landmarks!

Since joining the European Union in 2004, British citizens have not needed to possess a visa when moving to the Czech Republic. A country which, until the dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1993, had seen much political turmoil throughout its history, the Czech Republic is now one of the most popular countries in Europe for tourism, with its capital city, Prague, receiving more than 4.1 million visitors per year.

The country itself has been ranked as the third most peaceful in Europe on the Global Peace Index and is considered to be the most democratic of all Eastern European nations.

Part of Prague’s charm lies in its architecture. The Old Town has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site with its buildings resembling those one would imagine from a fairy tale. Prague’s buildings were surprisingly lucky during the Second World War, suffering far less damage and generally surviving intact in comparison to buildings in neighbouring towns and cities. One of the most famous symbols of Prague is its Castle. According to the Guinness Book of World Records it is the largest castle in the world, and sitting high on a hill this magnificent building dominates the city skyline.

Prague has become one of the most important capital cities in Europe, and indeed the world, and is home to several large multi-national corporations. It is primarily due to the employment that these companies offer that so many people from foreign countries consider relocating to Prague. Educational facilities in the city are second to none, in particular its universities, all of which welcome a large amount of students from across the world on international study programmes.

With its deep seated sense of history, rich culture and friendly citizens Prague will continue to be a popular choice for British ex pats in search of a cosmopolitan city lifestyle for years to come.
