Hanoi is considered by many to be the cultural centre of Vietnam. While it is not the largest city it is the nations’ capital and has seen the greatest amount of economic growth in recent years. Hanoi has a rich cultural heritage and there are many historical sites and monuments located all over the city including the Old Quarter, the One Pillar Pagoda, Hanoi Citadel and the Flag Tower of Hanoi. The city is home to several prominent and internationally renowned museums including the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts.

Shopping areas within Hanoi are second to none, with several large shopping malls having been built in recent years. Vietnamese cuisine can be found in a variety of places – from high end restaurants through to the local markets where vendors sell amazing regional street food.

Ho Chi Minh City is the largest city in Vietnam, and home to the country’s major sea port. It is from here that most of Vietnam’s exports leave. The city is also home to Vietnam’s major software industry, with many large companies located in the Quang Trung Software Park. Culturally, the city retains many influences from its time as French colony, specifically in the architectural style of many of the buildings. There are several important museums including the War Remnants Museum and the Museum of Vietnamese History. There is a strong arts scene in Ho Chi Minh City, with more than 200 theatres and cinemas showing everything from major blockbusters through to smaller art house films.
