Removals and Shipping to Spain

Spain has been the popular choice for people looking to emigrate abroad for many years. With its warm climate, beautiful landscape and good transport links back to the UK, it’s easy to see why people choose this country to live in, either for retirement or for work.

Being a member of the European Community means removals to Spain can be a relatively simple process, especially if you use a reputable firm like Fox Moving & Storage.

Being part of the European Union means one can move to Spain from the UK quite freely, with no beaurocratic form filling required in order to obtain a visa. In fact, a visa is not required at all! However, if you intend to live or work in Spain permanently it is essential that you obtain an NIE number (Número de Identificación de Extranjeros).

This is a Tax identification number that is issued by the National Police of Spain and is required should you wish to buy or sell a house or vehicle or open a bank account. You do not need to wait until you have moved to Spain to apply for the NIE number; it can be obtained in advance by filling in a form and taking it to the Spanish Embassy.

Removals to Spain

The southern coastline and islands of Spain are probably home to more expats than any of the regions further north in the country. It appeals to the young as much as older people. Many young people come over to Spain on holiday and decide that the weather, the atmosphere and quality of life seem ideal and so take the plunge to move over on a permanent basis. Many expats opt for a role within the tourism industry at one of the numerous holiday resorts the country has to offer, either on the mainland or one of the Baleric or Canary islands.

For those looking at moving to Spain but who are perhaps unsure about where to go or want to get to know the region a bit better before finally settling into a village or small town, there are many residential communities designed purely for expats in and around Almeria, Alicante and Malaga – ideal for those who wish to soak up some Spanish sun as well as having a ready-made expat community around them.

When moving to Spain, be it for work or retirement, it is important to make sure that your belongings are delivered to your new home safely. To do this it is best to hire a reputable UK firm who specialise in European and worldwide removals, such as Fox Moving & Storage.
